"Training your mind to be in the present moment is the number one key to making healthier choices." - Susan Albers

Our minds are like mischievous monkeys. Hopping from one thought to another. Often dwelling in the past or worrying about the future. I've learned that when we train our minds to be in the present moment, magic happens. It's like flipping a switch that illuminates the path to healthier choices like opting for a nourishing meal, taking a deep breath instead of snapping at someone, intentionally stopping for a moment to enjoy the sun's warmth on your face.

Being present is a superpower. Yes, I'm serious! When you're fully in the moment, you're not just reacting to life...you're living it intentionally. You become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and the sensations in your body. This heightened awareness is your secret weapon for making choices that serve you well. It's like having a wise inner guide that whispers, "Hey, you got this, make the choice that'll make you feel good inside and out."

So, the next time you find your mind worrying about something in the future, or fretting about something in your past, stop. Take a deep breath. Bring your mind to this moment...right now. Note how it feels to sit in the chair. Hear the sounds around you. See what's happening near you. To make healthier choices, while you’re in the moment … if you're craving something unhealthy, be it food or drink or no-exercise … decide to do the opposite. It's the best gift you can give yourself. Trust me, your future self will thank you!

A Marketing Tip

Direct Mail.

It's alive and well. And there are many benefits - it allows you to enter the home of your prospect, "sit down" with them, tell them a story about your offer. Done correctly, they'll respond.

When I was 21 years old, I managed a direct mail firm. Using tri-fold self mailers we sold custom apparel to auto and truck dealerships across the USA. I wrote the firm's first personalized sales letter to introduce a new product. The sales were so good they continued to use that tactic for many years.

Today, as my mailbox becomes less and less full, I see more and more opportunity for direct mail. So, as I start my ecommerce business selling physical products, I’m planning direct mail campaigns for 2024.

Oh, you think direct mail is too expensive? If you’re doing online advertising, here’s a surprise for you:

You may find this hard-hitting truth from the folks at LocaliQ a bit shocking:

They analyzed 17,223 U.S.-based campaigns from April 2022 to March 2023.

And their Google Ads Inventory Benchmark report dropped a bombshell:

The average cost per lead using digital channels is a whopping $53.52.

That’s just for a lead… not even a sale!

As much as I love email (it’s been my primary revenue stream since 2019, I’m co-founder of Email Skills, and more), I know it’s not the end all/be all for communicating directly with prospects. I hope you see that. And I hope you investigate direct mail for your business.

From the Research Files

aka random bits of info you may or may not be able to use in your life

The "Melody in A major" was written in Illinois in 1912 and became a well known violin and piano piece. Charles Dawes was an American banker and politician who was the 30th Vice President of the United States (Calvin Coolidge was President). The "Melody in A major" was therefore played at many official functions as his signature tune. It was later transformed into the pop song, "It's All In The Game" which has been recorded by numerous artists like: Van Morrison, Cliff Richard, Nat "King" Cole, Brook Benton, Elton John, Mel Carter, Barry Manilow, and Keith Jarrett. ================================
