What to do when you don't know what to do
Burke’s Bits as a newsletter has been around in various forms since 2005 or so. I took it from newsletter to just blogging…now I’m bringing it back to newsletter format.
I didn’t know quite what to do, though.
Should I create a new category on my website and design a template? Blech.
Should I publish on Medium? Blech.
Should I publish on LinkedIn? Blech.
The Blech is my response to all of those platforms. They’re boring. Few people actually see what I write there (expect for my blog and website).
My blog and website get a lot of traffic but I didn’t want to deal with designing anything. I remember all too well when Wordpress was astonishingly easy to use. Now? Not so much.
What to do? What to do?
It was during this befuddled musing moment when I opened my email and read a favorite newsletter. In the footer I saw that it was published on Substack. I clicked the link…checked it out…and quickly made the decision that substack is where I’ll start with my newsletter.
It’s easy to use. It has stats so I can see if anyone is actually reading my newsletter. It’s easy to share. And…when I’m ready to put all of this on my website I can.
What to do when you don’t know what to do:
Look around for options and then begin experimenting. Before you know it, you’ll find something that works.
